Position Summary

As an Automotive Detail Lot Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of both company and customer vehicles on the dealership lot. This role requires washing, waxing, and detailing vehicles using specialized equipment while adhering to dealership and safety standards. You will report directly to the Sales and Service Managers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Wash and wax cars and trucks efficiently as requested by management.
  • Perform tasks accurately following dealership standards.
  • Ensure vehicle keys are properly tagged and descriptions correspond with the vehicles.
  • Inspect vehicles for signs of needed safety or service work and report findings promptly.
  • Avoid use of customer vehicles for personal errands.
  • Supervise apprentice technicians as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean and organized shop area; account for all dealership-owned tools.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including proper disposal of hazardous waste.

Working Conditions

  • Typically a 40-hour workweek with a five-day schedule; occasional overtime and rotational Saturday shifts may be required.
  • Work performed indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Exposure to dust, exhaust fumes, and other materials common to automotive environments.
  • Physical activities such as lifting up to 50 pounds, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and use of hand and power tools are part of daily tasks.
  • Uniform must be worn at all times on the dealership premises.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience as a detail technician is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
  • Ability to read and understand job-related instructions in electronic or paper format.
  • Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Good judgment and reliability.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Work Environment

  • Physical ability to perform tasks requiring lifting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and prolonged standing.
  • Comfortable working in indoor and outdoor settings, exposed to various weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools in a fast-paced environment.
